The Atom Bears showed determination Sunday against the Abbotsford Falcons White.  Evan Hoy was the heart of that determination with 5 tackles, and over 115 total rushing yards gained.  He pushed through the Falcons d-line while on offence and ran the distance to catch the Falcons, who got away on the sweep, while on defence.  Also, Markus MacLeod and Aiden McMurtry each had three tackles.

On the Bears 4th possession they completed 9 successful plays that lead to their only touchdown by Rylan Middleton.  The offence line Jesse Davison, Alyson Courtney, Lucca Patterson, Ryan Heutink, Rowen Engele held strong throw out the game.
The 7th drive for the Bears ended with a fumble after 8 completed plays.   Falcons took over and fumbled their 1st play for a quick recovery by Lucas Laroche.

Despite this all round team effort by the Bears, the final score was 6-32 for the Falcons.

This weekends VCFL football action saw the North Langley Bears travel to Rotary Park to take on the Abbotsford Falcons.

The Bears first drive of the day saw QB Owen Seiben connect on several long passes to Matthew Gale including a 40 yard catch & run for a touchdown. The Bears then executed an onside kick which was recovered by Ryan Goesen (1 of  3 the team recovered on the day).  After trading series with no points for the next few drives, the Bears defense had 3 straight tackles for loss which led to a turnover on the Falcons 11 yard line.  Two plays later Lance Barker rumbled in for the touchdown behind some great blocking by the entire O-line and Fullback Jacob Beveridge. Heading into half time the Bears lead 12-0.The second half was a defensive affair with both teams struggling to get a rhythm on offence due to several penalties and fumbles by both teams.  The bears continued to play stifling defense and had 2 interceptions in the second half including one by Troy Edwards to end the Falcons final drive and seal the win for the Bears.  Final score was 12-0.

Next week the Bears are home at Mcleod Athletic Park to take on Abbotsford (Black) Falcons at 11:30.

JB Bears fell 20-0 to Abbotsford. Our boys were definitely out-sized but stood their ground. Ronil Chand led in tackles. O-line held up remarkably well.  Centre Nolan MacLeod did not let #63 get any tackles in. Corners kept play inside. Defense is really coming together as a team.

Charlie Ward played his best game with 80 hard earned yards, but we couldn't finish the last 10 yards.

Nick Lacroix connected with Michael Huggins for two touchdown passes as the North Langley Bantam Bears rolled over the Langley Mustangs Sunday afternoon.  Pablo Wigwigan contributed 112 yards on the ground for the Bears including a spectacular 70 yard touchdown run in the second quarter.  Connor Hurley also scored, running outside after Lacroix had made a great fake to Ethan Bernardin up the middle of the Bears line.  David Wegert capped the Bears scoring with two converts.  The North Langley defense was particularly strong as it prevented the Mustangs from even gaining a first down.  Jacob Price, Brodie Tarling and Caleb Nielson were among the many Bears who made key tackles throughout the game.

The offense was led by #26 Mathieu Gale who ran for two touchdowns and recovered an onside kick. #22 Lance Barker put another 6 points on the board with a touchdown run up the middle. #14 Tyson Hoy ran the ball well and kicked a convert.  Quarterback Owen Sieben had some big gains on the ground as well keeping the chains moving before the second touchdown of the game was scored. It was a huge team win next up an away game against Abbotsford White at Rotary Stadium.

In a rematch of week 1 opponents the North Langley Bantam Bears defeated the Abbotsford Falcons 26-0 Saturday afternoon in Langley.  Ethan Bernardin led the Bears offense with 81 yards and two touchdowns.  Pablo Wigwigan and Evan Rees also ran for touchdowns while David Wegert kicked two converts.  The stingy Bears defense forced three Falcons turnovers with Jacob Price and Connor Hurley each recovering fumbles.  Mitch Ray made an outstanding play in tipping an errant Falcons pass that resulted in a Ser Ler Pwe Interception.  Ryan Taylor applied constant pressure to the Abbotsford quarterback limiting the effectiveness of their passing attack.   The undefeated Bantam Bears take on cross town rivals Langley Mustangs next Sunday.

North Langley Atom Bears opened their season with a home game against Mission 9'ers.    After a fumble on their 1st possession there was no slowing down the Bears offence.  Markus MacLeod (25) runs 20 yards for a 1st down.  Then Lucas Laroche (23) burst through the middle for a two yard gain.  Quarterback Ben Evans (11) runs the ball 33 yards for the Bears first touchdown of the season. That was just the start of the action for Evans (11) as he snags an interception takes it all the way back for a touchdown.  Evan Hoy (15) runs it in for the conversion point. The strong defensive line held Mission to no yards gained after the 1st quarter. The defensive strength continues into the 2nd quarter.  Offensive excitement raised with a successful pass from Evans (11) to Damon Bernemann (9) who ran in for the touchdown.  Then Laroche (23) runs wide for the conversion.   Jesse Davison (73) comes up with a sold tackle that shuts Mission down once again.

Two more touchdown for the Bears in the second quarter.  One by Hoy (15) followed by a very close field goal attempt by Aiden McMurtry (99).  The second by Bernemann (9) with another field goal attempt by Ryan Heutink (21).  Concludes the first half 33-0.

During the third quarter Reece Fennell (57) and Lucas Reimer (81) tackled hard for another great defensive quarter.

The North Langley Bears opened up the 2015 season with a bang, defeating the Mission Niners in two back-to-back games! This year’s crop of up and comers showed great promise as they took to the field. Notably, Tyler Campbell (84) and Charlie Reimer (4) each produced multiple touch downs. Jackson Brhelle (3) also had a strong showing with a touch down. In a surprising play, fans were thrilled as they watched a hot pass from Clayton Ennis (55) to Wyatt Stebbings (11) result in a touch down! Sam Siebien (25) also scored an amazing touch down, leaving the rest Niner defencemen far behind in the dust. On the defence side of thing, Guinness McKenzie (32) delighted fans with two exciting tackles.

The Bears will be looking to continue with their winning streak next Saturday in Meadow Ridge as they play the Blue Knights!

JB Bears lost to the Mission Niners Saturday, September 5 with a score of 54-0.  The entire team played their hearts out, but honorable mentions go to Marcus Stang for some incredible tackles and Dayton King for a recorded sack. Next game is in Meadow-Ridge Saturday, September 12 at 4pm at Samuel Robertson School.

The Bantam North Langley Bears battled to a 16-16 tie Saturday afternoon in a back and forth contest against the Abbotsford Falcons that saw the lead change six times.  The Falcons scored first when ex-Bear Charlie May’s opening kickoff bounced into the end zone for a single point.  The Bears responded immediately with a 6 play drive that took them the length of the field and was capped by a 1 yard Evan Rees run for the touchdown.  The point after hit the upright leaving the score 6-1 Bears.  The Falcons scored a converted touchdown in the second quarter but once again the Bears answered back when quarterback Nick Lacroix ran the ball into the end-zone on a one yard scramble.  The Falcons went ahead 15-13 early in the 3rd quarter but a 15 yard field goal by Bears kicker David Wegert later put the Bears ahead 16-15.  When Abbotsford drove to the Bears 21 yard line late in the 4th quarter it looked like the Falcons would go ahead for good but Ryan Taylor partially blocked May’s field goal attempt and the Falcons had to settle for a game tying single point.

Rees and Pablo Wigwigan each ran for 114 yards and Lacroix added 20 more to lead the Bears offense.  Connor Hurley and K’Paw Shee Htoo  each had interceptions with Hurley also recovering a fumble for the opportunistic Bears defense.
